About the Program

The pilot aims to match up to 10 students with 10 Kingston companies.

Candidates will be offered a 4-month paid apprenticeship as part of a one year commitment of full time employment with a company based on pre-established criteria.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Students in their final year of undergraduate studies (year 3 or 4) in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT

Each CAPP business partner and CAPP student will be assigned a mentor. This is a mandatory aspect of the program and intended to ensure communication between our business partners, students and to help CAPP gain an understanding of what is being done to ensure the success of the new hires, especially during the initial four-month apprenticeship. It is also important as part of the pilot to document lessons learned and best practices for the following year.

Mentors have served on the Advisory Group that designed the CAPP. Mentors will meet in person or by telephone/skype/FaceTime bi-weekly during the first 90 days, monthly will be held for the balance of the year.

FUNDING

The pilot is being funded by a private donation from the Alan Rottenberg Family Foundation.
